Abstract
Purpose: The purpose of this study was to investigate the effect of wearing color lens on convergence insufficiency(CI) by measuring binocular vision and reading ability before and after wearing the color lenses in those with the convergence insufficiency and normal binocular vision.

Method: We surveyed 39 people who have no color blindness and eye disease with the CISS questionnaire, and classified them to CI and normal groups. All respondents were undergone refraction and corrected their vision of which maximum correction was over 1.0. We found out a reading ability using binocular vision test and Intuitive Colorimeter Mk.3 after letting them choose a favor color lens for near reading. Statistic analysis tool was SPSS 18.0 and set significance level as p<0.05.

Result: The CISS score of the CI group was higher than the normal group. It was shown that the amount of near exophoria in the CI group was larger, and the near point of convergence was also longer than the normal group. Positive relative accommodation and the lag of accommodation in the CI group showed larger values, and the accommodative facility of the CI group was slower than the normal group. In reading ability of the CI group, the number of correct words and the speed of reading increased when wearing the color lenses. However, the normal group showed no significant difference in the change of reading ability regardless of wearing the color lenses.

Conclusions: As a result, it was identified that the color lens contributes to a positive effect on the reading ability of convergence insufficiency eyes. If a questionnaire about the subjective symptoms on wearing color lenses, and tests on convergence and accommodation are additionally carried out, it would be avaiable to analyze various results.
